Hello and welcome to the Lutz Racing Website!

This is a short story of the Lutz Racing Team. Our team started in 1979 with Fran Lutz buying a small block modified that was run at the Reading Fairgrounds and Grandview Speedways, both in PA. After 10 years of driving, Fran turned over the driving duties to Ron Haring of Allentown, PA, for the next 4 years. In 1989 a 1/4 midget was purchased for Steven Lutz to drive. He was 10 years old at the time. Steven raced at the Pheonixville 1/4 midget club and also the Honeybrook and Blackbird Clubs. Steven won his 1st feature in only his 5th race and went on to win over 80 features in 3 1/2 years of competition. Kristen started driving when she was 7 years old and won races at every 1/4 midget track in southeastern PA, Jersey and Deleware. In 1992 a family friend named Dennis Brittingham asked to have Steven drive his go karts for his business, B.D. Racing engines. Kristen and their mother, Freda began racing karts shortly after. We ran go karts at tracks like Shippensburg, Trailways, Banana, Linda's, and what have become our home tracks, Shellhammer's Speedway, and Oreville Kart Club. Steven, to date has over 200 wins and Kristen is approaching 100 wins. They hold track records at Shellhammer's Speedway, and have Championships at Oreville Kart Club. Both drivers enjoy running occasional races with the World Karting Association on both dirt ovals, asphalt road courses. Steven will be driving a Banshee. Kristen will drive an 1 1/4 Twister offset kart, that was purchased from Capone Kart Shop of Reading, PA (Home of the Jammer Clutch). The Kart was built by Davis Manuf. of Blacksburg, SC. Engines and clutches are supplied by Dale Johnson of Capone Competition Karting. At this time, Kristen may be going to different WKA eventsand also the PDKA Penna. Dirt series. Mother Freda will race at Shellhammer's speedway in the 35+ class on a '96 Twister chassis, powered by a Capone engine and Jammer clutch. Updates will follow throughout the season.
